San Juan Capistrano
San Juan Capistrano is one of the oldest towns in California. The city is the site of California's oldest post-colonial residential neighborhood, Los Rios and the home of the oldest in-use building in California, the Serra Chapel in the Mission. This area was the site of both the first vineyard and first winery in California. The Mission San Juan Capistrano is the “Jewel of the California Missions” and welcomes over 300,000 visitors each year, from all parts of the world to witness the famous Annual Return of the Swallows, who migrate 6,000 miles from Goya, Argentina to San Juan Capistrano in large groups, a tradition that has been celebrated since the early 1930s. There are different activities to explore in San Juan Capistrano besides the historical landmarks, there are many parks, Zoomars at River Street Ranch, shops, restaurants and the coastline within minutes. San Juan Capistrano boasts a variety of architectural home styles which include adobe, Victorian, Spanish Revival, craftsman to other eclectic styles.
