Irvine is a master-planned city in Orange County, California, The Irvine Company started developing the area in the 1960s and the city was formally incorporated on December 28, 1971. A number of corporations, particularly in the technology and semiconductor sectors, have their national or international headquarters in Irvine, it’s Home to More than 1/3rd of Fortune 500 Companies. Irvine is also home to several higher education institutions including the University of California, Irvine (UCI), Concordia University, Irvine Valley College, the Orange County Center of the University of Southern California (USC), and campuses of California State University Fullerton (CSUF), University of La Verne, and Pepperdine University. The Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) consistently ranks among the finest educational systems in the nation. Recognized as one of the happiest cities in America and one of the best U.S. cities for raising a family, this California city offers a rapidly growing job market, and has an abundance of family-friendly activities. Many families and young professionals live here. In Irvine, roughly one third of dwellings are single detached homes, while the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and townhouses.
